Morzan silently drew Zar’roc as he talked with seleyna towards the noise that had sounded. Growing closer to the source of the noise it became clear that the creature was very likely to be a baby or young dragon due to the growls and small chirrups that they usually made during their early months.

Shifting a few pieces of rubble around Morzan looked for the little creature but failed to find it. He hoped that it hadnt been wounded and died…

Seleyna caught movement out of the corner of her eye and drew her sword, spinning in place. Nothing. The library was silent, other than the fading sounds of the young creature.

Morzan, I think we’re being watched. Something isn’t right

Morzan glanced around carefully, trying to spot any suspicious behaviour within the library. Like Seleyna he saw nothing however and that made the young male rider uneasy. He would have definitely preferred to see whatever was in the room with them. Glancing up cautiously his muscles tensed as he spotted a young obsidian dragon perched precariously on a sort of ledge, one wing hanging limp at its side though it still seemed to be functioning.

An image of a young obsidian dragon in the arms of another male flashed through Morzan’s mind a moment after he set eyes on the little dragon. Recognition coursed through him. The dream..

“Seleyna… We should get out of here.. Now..”

Seleyna glanced up and saw the hatchling, every instinct in her suddenly screamed a warning. She grabbed Morzan’s hand and pulled him out of the building as fast as she could, keeping alert for threats. She called Ginryu with a bolt of thought. Sweeping the are, she couldn’t see any direct threats, but she moved quickly anyways. “Do you think that was Shruikan?” She asked Morzan. “If it is, Galbatorix must be incredibly strong.”

Morzan looked around them, double checking that they werent being followed by anyone they didnt want following them. He was certain that the hatchling was shruikan and he nodded, keeping up with Seleyna easily.

“Yes but hes still a baby, and hurt apparently. I think someone tried to stop Galbatorix from taking him and hurt him in the process… If galbatorix is here though we’re going to have to watch our backs” He just hoped that because he would no longer aid the outcast no one else would..

Seleyna stopped in a ruined archway. “Something’s wrong,” she said suddenly. There was magic in the air, and she couldn’t tell what. “Keep watch, I’m going to see if I can read anything into it.” She closed her eyes and felt with her mind-carefully- and allowed the magic outside to resonate with the magic that sang in her blood.

“A tracking spell,” she mused, half distracted, “how interesting. Not meant to trap, only-” Her eyes flashed open. “Move! Now!”

She ran, into the ruins of a building, slamming into a wall. “The spell has a specific target. It’s set for you mainly, and to a lesser extent me as well. As long as we keep moving, it shouldn’t be able to lock on. If it does then it will immobilize us.”

A terrible thought occurred to Seleyna suddenly. What if Galbatorix had had the same dream?

Cut the bindings, take out the gag, and untie the blindfold and then give you a hug because that must have been a scary experience.

Anonymous

Seleyna smiles at anon. “Thank you Anon, it was a bit frightening. I’ve been through worse though.”

If I was tied up, gagged, and blindfolded on your bed when you walked in, what would you do to me?

Morzan was just finishing securing the girth of the saddle around Rosette’s middle when he noticed that Seleyna was also finishing up with Ginryu’s saddle. Rosette didnt need to converse with her rider to know that he’d agree with any plan that Seleyna suggested and honestly she would too.

Climbing up into Rosette’s saddle Morzan looked around the forest one last time sadly before his gaze settled on Seleyna “Lets hope that we can find something positive when we arrive…”

(\ \Do you want to skip ahead to arrival? If so you can write it.)

Seleynapulled herself up and adhusted the stars on her legs. “Hoping is all we can really do at this point.”

//Sure :3

Morzan looked around at the damaged but mostly intact area that they’d landed in. It was kind of difficult to imagine that this place had been full of dragons and their riders only a few short weeks ago. Now the place smelt of smoke and ash and no one was waiting to greet the pair. Worry stabbed at Morzan as he looked around to try and find any sign of life. Glancing at Seleyna he bit his lip a little.

“Lets try inside…”

Seleyna bit her lip and nodded. Something felt….. wrong. Like they were being watched, but as she glanced around, no one was there. Warily she walked into what had been the great council hall and library and gasped. The thousands of bookshelves were destroyed, the precious volumes burned in many cases to ash. Utter destruction unfolded before her eyes. The smell of smoke lingered violently in the air, wafting across the windows hazily.

There was a small noise from the back of the greatroom, hidden by decimated shelves. She gestured silently to Morzan to follow her, and stalked silently towards it.

Morzan nodded wordlessly. Seleyna’s grip on his hand the only thing preventing him from thinking this was all just another dream, another nightmare he’d wake up from. He hoped that they’d find someone who’d explain soon…

Seleyna quickly scryed their friend, only to see blackness on the water. She released the image and turned to Morzan. “We need to  return. I’ll inform the king and queen, you pack.” “

Morzan nodded and stood up beginning to flit with increased speed. He understood the urgency of the situation they found themselves in. Had their dream been in vain?

Seleyna returned to their dwelling, relieved. King Evandar and Queen Islanzadi had promised to look more into the absence of contact from Vroengard, and wished them speed on their journey. “Morzan? Are you ready?”

Morzan glanced up as he finished packing the last of their things into their saddlebags and nodded moving to her side and handing her the ones that would go on Ginryu.

“Yes, lets go. Rosette and Ginryu should be meeting us by the Menoa Tree in five minutes”

Seleyna worked quikcly to tie the bags to Ginryu’s saddle.

It should take us only a couple days if we fly fast and only stop to rest a bit, Ginryu said. Besides, I do not feel like I would be able to rest easily.

I doubt I’ll be able to either. There. She tugged in the saddle straps once more. Does that feel alright?

Yes. Ready?

Ready.

Pity and disgust welled inside of Eragon. “You have become your father.”A strange gleam leaped into Murtagh’s eyes.  “No, not my father. I’m stronger than Morzan ever was.”

Morzan smiled a little at her and lay back to look up at the ceiling “im sorry ive been so… on edge the last few days…”

“It’s alright,” Seleyna said gently.”I can understand why you are nervous. I feel uneasy, like there is something I am missing.” She shook her head. “I need reassurance.”

Morzan tilted his head to one side and reached up to brush his hand up Seleyna’s arm to try and reassure her “It’ll come to you love, if its truly important”

Seleyna smiled and took Morzan’s hand. “I’m sure it will.” She leaned against him. “I hope everyone back home is alright…”

Morzan smiled softly giving Seleynas hand a gentle squeeze. “I hope so too” He nestled his head against the crook of her neck, allowing her unique scent to soothe his agitated state of mind.

As the sun slipped below the horizon, Seleyna filled a wide bowl with water. She glanced breifly at Morzan, then closed her eyes and called up an image of Oromis in her mind and cast her spell. The water blackened, then an image appeared.

Morzan leant closer to observe the image before them. There were obvious signs of a recent scuffle though there didnt seem to be too much damage. Black smoke wafted through the air indicating that a fire had either recently been lit or snuffed out. If Morzan had been worried before it was nothing compared to the panic that bubbled up in his ches now, his hand automatically seeking out Seleyna’s.

“What in skies name…. Master?!” His voice betrayed the worry and panic the young rider felt.

Seleyna gripped Morzan’s hand tightly, desperately searching the vision for some signs of Oromis-elda. “I’m going to try scrying Formora,” she said, trying to keep the panic out of her voice. “She was still on Doru Araeba with Kialandi, right?”

Morzan nodded wordlessly. Seleyna’s grip on his hand the only thing preventing him from thinking this was all just another dream, another nightmare he’d wake up from. He hoped that they’d find someone who’d explain soon…
